Review
- Stromkern Armageddeon Scanner/WTII
Did
you say content? Aside from the fact that the subject matter of
the
entire album appeals to my psycho-religious fetish, the lyrics
in this album
are thought provoking and, dare I say, titillating. (hehe I dare).
I know, I
know, "But Punketta, in your last review you said content
didn't matter!"
Screw you, who's the reviewer here? Some may find Ned's vocals
a bit
unnerving; he's not the "typical" industrial mouthpiece
by any stretch. In
one part of a song, he sounds like dreamy and far away, like a
classic
"Goth" vocalist, the next, like your aggro-friend, screaming
lyrics next to
you while you drive in your car.
The
lyrics themselves hit like a slug to
the chest, socio-political rage, religious innuendo and, of course,
enough
"anti-you" material to make any breakup fun and easy.
They truly are good
enough to warrant being printed in the insert, and make an interesting
read.
And I haven't even talked about the music yet! Very melodic, catchy
and
high-energy tunes, everyone I know has a different favorite track.
I'd have
to declare a tie between Re-Align and Night Riders. Perfect Sunrise
is up
there, though. Get moving on the dance-floor with 'em, fight to
'em, fuck
to 'em, what more do you need from something labeled "entertainment"?
Plus,
there's no dead space on the album, no tracks you skip through,
even the
instrumental is classy. The whole thing is well planned and mastered,
its
production value is high, the album translates well to live show,
(check out
www.punketta.com for pictures from the show in Boston with Infrastructure),
and man, those boys are so nice! I haven't checked out their back
catalogue
yet, but I will.
