Review ? Imperative Reaction "Ruined"

The title sums up how I felt when I first heard this album. As in "I was looking forward to hearing the new Imperative Reaction album, but the new singing style kind of ruined it." This is because the first few tracks have some sensitive sort of singing style best left to those with 1) range and 2) range. I'm also not into the chick singer warbling through the fifth track Disoriented, it turns out too froofy goth for my rivet head. Perhaps I'm being overly critical right off the bat; there are some excellent tracks on this album: Never Tomorrow has raspy vocals and a catchy melody. All of the instrumental tracks and are very classy and well constructed. In fact all of the tracks on this album are fantastic
musically, it's the choice of vocals that make or break each song. My favorite track, Rift reminds me of the "Eulogy for a Sick Child" days, which is why I started giving a crap about Imperative Reaction in the first place. It has powerful vocals and driving beats. This guy sound really, really pissed off, the beats are hard, it's so goooooood, easily the best song on the album. Too bad they didn't stick with an EP.

Punketta Doilie's math lessons: x = wussy , y = angry ; read : < is worse than ; > is better than

{goth < x(girl)} + {x(boy)< assemblage 23} < {y(boy)} + INCREDIBLE music = Imperative Reaction
